TREATMENT
OF COVID-19 has been decided to be treated by the plasma therapy .
let’s check what is plasma therapy , its procedure, development and
other facts.

What is plasma therapy?
- Plasma therapy is
an intermission of blood plasma of a person[ who is recovered from any
infectious disease or covid-19] to a person [currently suffering from
any infectious disease or covid-19] . the reason
for such transmission is that our body create naturally antibiotics or
we can say antidote , which acts as an immunity against infectious
disease or covid19.
- The person who recoverd from covid19 freshly.
It is common that in such person body having a maximum number fresh or
regenerated immunities in body. In that blood sample from the covid19
recovered person will transfer to patient of covid19 who is in third
stage or in critical condition.
- Covid19 belongs to common virus
family which effects SARS [Severe acute respiratory syndrome ] AND MERS
[Middle East respiratory syndrome]
- . When the human body is
infected by an intruder, it makes antibodies to fight it. Antibodies are
proteins produced by the body to neutralise or destroy toxins or
disease-carrying organisms, and they are made specifically to fight that
one type of disease. In order for a person to fight the disease and not
get sick in the future, the antibodies help the body achieve immunity
to the disease.
The difference between - active and passive immunity.
- There are two types of immunities - active and passive immunity.
In wide term plasma therapy is an active immunity which is transferred
from the medium of passive immunity. It may be vaccines or any other
mean.
- Active immunity means development of immunity inside own
body without any artificial assistance . it is long-lasting and
sometimes life-long, but it takes weeks to develop. It occurs when the
immune system produces antibodies for that disease either by getting
infected or through the introduction of a weakened disease via a
vaccine. It me
A vaccine is a biologically engineered medicine that trains the body to fight a disease it has not yet come into contact with.
The weakened or inactive disease-causing microorganism is injected
into the body, which in-turn prompts the body to create its own
antibodies, thus giving a person immunity towards that disease. Vaccines
are designed to prevent disease, rather than treat the disease once
someone is infected.
- Passive immunity is temporary, but immediate.
It occurs when antibodies are given to a person rather than the body's
immune system producing them on their own, for instance with plasma
treatment.
Complications of plasma therapy.
- The top
medical research body of India, the Indian Council of Medical Research
(ICMR), , had approved a clinical trial for plasma treatment for people
who are infected with COVID-19 and are seriously ill. After
implementation of plasma thereapy in delhi one hospital . it shows a
good response. Many countries around the world have begun using plasma
to treat patients infected with coronavirus and the treatment has shown
some favourable results in improving patient health. Currently, there is
no cure for the virus but there are many ongoing vaccine trials.
But now health ministry took a u-turn to allow a plasma theory
- Health Ministry says there is not enough evidence to claim plasma therapy can be used for treatment of COVID-19.
-
Plasma therapy is not an approved treatment for COVID-19 and is only
one of the several therapies which is being explored currently, the
Health Ministry said on Tuesday, adding that the therapy is still at an
experimental stage and the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) is
currently studying its intended result.

- Ministry contended
that “ICMR has not given any clearance for its use as a prescribed
treatment for COVID-19 and the misuse can have fatal outcome for the
patients,” added the Ministry. The Health Ministry statement comes days
after the Drug Controller-General of India gave its go-ahead to a
proposal by the ICMR for the clinical trial of convalescent plasma
therapy in COVID-19 patients as per the protocol developed by ICMR.The
regulator had said the ICMR had submitted a list of institutes, which
have shown an interest in the trial, to the Central Drugs Standard
Control Organisation and they may do so in consultation with the health
research body.plasma therapy should be used only for research or trial
purpose. If plasma therapy is not used in proper manner under proper
guidelines, then it can also cause life threatening complications,” he
cautioned.
Yet initially delhi government in the press conference
with Dr S.K. Sarin, head of Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences
(ILBS) praises the plasma therapy.
